Emptying cylinder when regulator is fitted

Postby Solo1 on Thu May 28, 2015 11:26 am

Are there any problems releasing all the air from a cylinder when you have a regulator in your rifle, if so what is the procedure for completely emptying the cylinder.

I never gave it a thought before but I was talking to a friend the other night and it seemed logical that if a regulator shuts off at, say, 95 bar then there will always be air at the front end of the cylinder that cannot pass the regulator. That being the case, how would you go about releasing that air?

I might be completely missing the point here but any advice would be really helpful.

Hi,
My rifle is a sub-12 ft/lbs Logun Solo (FX Typhoon) and has a BTAS regulator. I've emptied the cylinder on a Solo before but not one with a regulator fitted. Any help would be appreciated.

just vent air from the gun via the pressure gauge or unscrew the air tube and vent from the valve end , ive done this loads of times with my cyclone with a reg fitted had no probs

Thanks for your help mate. I don't need to do anything at the moment but it will save a lot of time and worry if, and when, the job needs to be done.

It has a Ben Taylor regulator so what happens if that's the case; can I still release air from that end?

once you have vented the air tube via the gauge and the guage shows empty , then the gun should be empty !! the reg should not as far as i know hold pressure it only stops regulating at 80bar !!!! shoot the gun down past 80 bar then its off the reg to confirm
