Leak on front cylinder

Two types known, the "DA" or "Double Air" and the "PA" or "Pump Action" (a.k.a. FX Exterminator). Lots of air (500cc minimum), and the same biathlon style sidelever action as the Cutlas. Also known as Logun Gladi8tor.

Leak on front cylinder

Postby YorkieT on Fri Oct 21, 2011 9:40 pm

Hi All,

My Gladiator has suddenly developed a leak on the front cylinder, air is escaping from the fill port. The rifle has been stored for a few months and last night I put approx 20 BAR of air in to bring it back to full pressure ready for a ratting trip tomorrow when the leak started.

I have had the front cylinder off and replaced the large o'ring, lubed the small one on the valve and cleaned the small hole through to the fill port but the leak is just as bad

Has anyone got any ideas as how to cure the leak?

Cheers,

Alan.

Yeah, replace the O-ring of the fill valve.

Hi polarwolf,

Is that the small o'ring on the end of the brass cone? If so do you know the size etc off hand?

Cheers,

Alan.

Yeah, that'd be the one. The size would be 2.5x1.5 NBR90.

Cheers for the info PolarWolf, it was indeed the o ring that you mentioned that was at fault, it had gone brittle. I managed to get 10 x 90 shore o rings for a little over a £1 so I have a few spares :)
