trouble cycling mag

The model which started it all. Also known as Webley FX2000 and RWS Exalibre. FX Tarantula and FX Timber Wolf seem to be similar rifles, as is the FX Rapier.

trouble cycling mag

hi, iam having trouble cycling mags on my excalibre, stripped it down for a seal change and clean now its not cycling.
my question is- should there be a spring which goes over the side plate bolt which the index lever pivots on, to keep the lever pushed over as i can see it moving about and is not catching the mag everytime. if i cant the gun over to the right it seem better, but up right or canted left the lever seem to flap over to the left and doesnt engage.
any ideas?

Hi Rizla,
I bought an RWS Scimitar recently which didn't have the lever or spring so I bought the parts from Chambers.

Once it was all apart I put mine together in this order

Small blob of grease
Small washer
The lever ( hooked to the long nappy pin first)
The coil spring
Then the cover plate over the top.

The longer of the 3 screws goes in the centre hole in the side plate, & through the spring, lever & washer.

I haven't used Loctite, but have put some tape over the side plate to stop the screws shaking out.

Hope that helps, Jim
